All applicants are encouraged to review these websites to ensure their understanding of what may or may not increase their chances of receiving an award. Adoption of the ICC (International Construction Code) is requested and inspection documentation is required. The use of renewable energy and energy efficient building practices is a high priority of the ARRA bill. These practices are eligible for funding and encouraged by the Station Construction Grants (SCG). High unemployment figures can be obtained at a city/county level by accessing the appropriate website below. Take your time and review the sites carefully in order to take advantage of all available information. There may be other programs that may interest you. However, there are restrictions regarding the use of more than one federal award for the same project. International Code Council- www.iccsafe.org -- Codes designed to meet the need through model code regulations that safeguard the public health and safety in all communities, large and small. Barrier Free/ Handicap Accessible information is available using http://www.iccsafe.org/A117.1 Americans with Disabilities Act- www.ada.gov -- Codes and standards adopted by the Federal, State and Local governments for all types of disabilities. All public buildings must adhere to these basic guidelines. National Fire Protection Association- www.nfpa.org -- Codes and standards adopted that govern every building process, service, design, and installation. National Flood Insurance Program- www.fema.gov/business/nfip -- A national program designed for Flood Insurance, Floodplain Management, and Flood Hazard Mapping. LEED Program-www.usgbc.org/economicrecovery -- An internationally recognized certification system that measures how well a building or community performs across all the metrics that matter most; energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
