Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER)

NIMS Requirement

How do I comply with the NIMS requirement?
Departments must have operational knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS) and understanding of NIMS principles and policies. You must certify in your grant closeout report that your department has an operational understanding of ICS and NIMS. To document your department's compliance, you must certify recognition of NIMS and ICS in your closeout report.

Please note that responders who have taken ICS and recognized NIMS training consistent with DHS standards do not require re-training.
